Must see: Late Rembrandt in Rijksmuseum

Don’t allow  the long queues to misguide you, this isn’t always the case. Check the mid-afternoons. And besides that, they are worth it. This Late Rembrandt exhibition at the Rijksmuseum shows a unique gathering of the late work of one (or the?) greatest painter ever lived. Ánd Dutch. Makes me a little bit proud. Over 100 of the paintings, drawings and prints that Rembrandt produced in the final phase of his life can be seen here, collected from museums and private collections across the world.

Love this brush and brown ink drawing of Rembrandt's love Hendrikje.

Love this brush and brown ink drawing of Rembrandt’s ‘wife’ (they never married) Hendrikje. 1654

I was very impressed by seeing all these famous and well-known paintings displayed together. And the fact that Rembrandt himself never saw this, is fascinating to me.
