Fashion, Style

My fall season dahlings by Repeat and & Other Stories.

navy blue coat by Ada Kokosar for & Other Stories.

Every season they suddenly manifest themselves, one or two pieces that make me wonder: what did I wear before?
For FW15/16 season – and years to come – I found my season dahlings. Let me rephrase, they found me. The cashmere poncho by Repeat is a stunning gift of my sweetest friends after a lovely women-only weekend in Portugal.
And the long darkblue navy coat from Ada Kokosar for & Other Stories simply called my name. Yes, I know, the question where else might pop up since I am an obvious fan of & Other Stories. We became friends right from the start, the Sweeds et moi.

Buy less, buy better quality & Textile Recycling

The & Other Stories concept reminds me of the collections of Jil Sander, Prada and Helmut Lang in the ’80’s and ’90’s. A minimalistic and strong style period, before fashion turned into a billion dollar industry. They were my favorite designers and I still wear pieces from that period today. Classic styles made from high quality fabrics that lasts a lifetime.
My appetite for new clothes is no longer insatiable, a few pieces – likes the two season winners – satisfy my style hunger and sustainable fashion is getting more important to me.
I strongly believe that fashion is not a consumption product to throw away after wearing it a few times. Which is inevitable with cheap clothes of low quality. Not to mention the huge environmental impact.
This believe is also why I founded Designer-Vintage back in 2007, to give high quality pieces a 2nd life. Often even a 3rd or a 4th one. In stead of buying a lot of new (cheap) clothes, also shop high quality clothes already produced. Vintage fun!

Good news is that my favorite store just launched their Textile Recycling program: bring (any) old clothes to an & Other Stories store and get 10% discount voucher.

& Other Stories & Timeless Style

Another thing is that (might have something to do with growing older?) I am loosing my interest in the fashion industry as it is today.
Fashion for me is about personal style, which grows on you and is timeless. I like to mix ‘n match my capsule collection pieces from & Other Stories with designer shoes and bags.
Designer shoes and bags, my leftover fashion weakness after a daily overdose of the most beautiful designer pieces at DV. They keep their value and could easily be re-sold instead of thrown out. Nothing beats a classic seasonal dahling, new or vintage. Year after year.
