Hotel Boulevard Leopold, a romantic Antwerp hideaway

Hotel Boulevard Leopold Antwerpen Bathtub

Valentine’s day is around the corner, this calls for a romantic evening. Hotel Boulevard Leopold in Antwerp qualifies as the perfect and charming location.
I found this little Bed & Breakfast through Instagram. It is the favorite place of (Dries van Noten) model – and regular guest – Sylvia van der Klooster. Her interior pictures of this cosy place are so appealing, enough to drop everything and book  a romantic weekend with my love.

Hotel Boulevard Leopold aka stylish Bed and Breakfast

It is not easy to describe the beauty of Hotel Boulevard Leopold. The typical Antwerp building dates back to the 19th century, located in the middle of the Jewish quarter.
One step over the threshold and you enter a different era. As if time has stood still. Think ‘Downton Abbey‘ (our all time favorite series. Still dealing with the fact that after 6 seasons the final episode is really the final). The rooms (and one apartment) are decorated with a sense of “forgotten glory and with a touch of elegance.”
The name Hotel Boulevard Leopold refers to the former name of the street, Boulevard Leopold, which now is Belgiëlei. This **** bed and breakfast is a personal, unique boutique hotel. Truly one of a kind and authentic. The natural hospitality of today’s owner and host Martin Willems results in a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Don’t leave without a taste of the delicious home-made breakfast in the morning. Again in a wonderful setting. Prices from 125 € per night.

What to see in Antwerp?

When in Antwerp, visit the M.A.S. (Museum Aan de Stroom). This huge, contemporary storehouse on the Scheldt River was built in 2011. A modern interpretation of 19th-century depots that are so typical for this neighbourhood. The building, designed by Neutelings and Riedijk architects, is ten stories high and a breathtaking 360 degree panorama of Antwerp awaits you at the top.
You’ll encounter a new tale about Antwerp, the river and the port on every storey. The temporary – untill March, 27 – exposition Exodus  is gripping story of one and a half million Belgians fleeing the war. Worth the visit.

Where to shop in Antwerp?

Well, we can be short about this. Our two favorite places are Belgium designer Dries van Noten‘s Modepaleis and Graanmarkt 13 for lunch and brands like Sofie D’Hoore, Isabel Marant, Marni and more. Make sure your #onepieceamonth is a good one!

Where to eat the best shellfish in Antwerp?

The port of Antwerp lies along the Scheldt river. So if you’re into seafood, this definetely is the town to be. My favorite restaurant is Fiskebar, a small restaurant with a scandinavia atmosphere. Try the shellfish, it is really delicious. __AW
