Playing Home Spa is a guilty pleasure. Not surprising for a skin care addict like myself. This time I’ve tried the ‘sheet mask‘: made of bio-cellulose, serum infused and easy to apply and remove.
Optimal conditions for some home pampering are easily created. First comes time, then herbal tea, cotton pareo & headband and a relaxing summer evening. Cherry on the home spa cake is the sound of Portuguese crickets singing in the background.
I’ve tried Starskin Firming Second Skin Face Mask and Exfoliating Foot Mask Socks, Verso Intense Facial Mask and Filorga Optimum Eye patches.
Starskin firming second skin face sheet mask
Refreshing and firming, that’s how my skins feels after taking off this sheet mask. According to the pink package this mask should firm, lift and sculpt for a supple, youthful appearance. Don’t know about the latter but my skins looks awake.
The translucent sheet mask (tip: put in the fridge for a couple of hours to increase the effect) is formulated with no less than 30 ml of serum. Which is a lot and leaves enough serum in the package for hand, neck and cleavage. After I remove the mask I take time to massage the remaining serum into my face.
Key – organic – ingredients: coconut for hydrating, soy protein for illuminating, wheat protein for firming and lecithin for smoothing. Leave on for 20 (I did 30) minutes. Free of parabens, mineral oil, sulfates and alcohol.
Verso Intense Facial sheet mask
In fact this sheet mask consists of two sheets, one for upper face and the one other for mouth and chin. Which makes it easy to perfectly cover the complete face.
Verso Skincare – from Sweden – products contain Retinol 8, a unique vitamin A complex that promotes cell regeneration, which is 8 times more potent than usual retinol products. Perfect for use on a daily basis, even for sensitive skins.
The intense mask is saturated with ingredients and feels firm. It helps stimulating the skin’s own production of collagen due to the hydrogel technology, which has great dermal affinity. It allows the Retinol 8 as well as the other actives to penetrate the skin. My skin really felt hydrated and moisturized, also the next day. Leave on for about 20 minutes. Yes, again I left it longer.
Key ingredients: Vitamin A for collagen stimulation, ceramide-3 for repairing, Grapefruit to boost softness & radiance and Canola oil for conditioning and hydrating. Also free from parabens, mineral oils and colorants. One package contains 4 sheets masks.
Filorga Optim Eyes patches
Facial masks come with a warning to avoid the eye area. Now it’s the other way around. The two yin & yang shaped patches are for your eyes only. Anti-fatigue, anti-wrinkles and anti dark circles. We all want that. well, I do. These patches – ah, that’s where the panda get’s his looks from, are less moist than the other sheet masks.
They stick well though, I can walk around without the patches sliding off but prefer to relax and disconnect. This quick fix is ment to revitalize the eye area skin, lessen dark circles, puffiness and wrinkles. My skin around the eyes feels tight and looks less dark after.
Remove with care from the jar, patch under eyes and leave for 15 minutes. Remind me to set the alarm next time…
Key ingredients: A polysaccharide-rich active ingredient stimulates and helps restructure the blood capillary network to lighten dark circles, hazel + cornflower to decongest, sooth and reduce eye bags and black carrageenan gel that smoothes and moisturises the eye area for lifting effect. One jar contains 8 x 2 patches.
Starskin Exfoliating double layer foot mask socks
Act first, read later. When will I ever learn that reading the manual actually makes sense? I almost brook these sheet mask socks. Warning: a pair of scissors needed to cut the two halves and do not try to tear it from the middle. Also make sure to separate the layers of each sock to slide your foot in.
No savings on the exfoliating serum, which sure is a good thing but gives you sticky fingers. And therefore difficult to close the sock with the sticker. I covered the plastic socks with some small tennis socks to make sure all the serum reached the skin of my feet and to improve the sauna effect.
This feet sock mask keeps it promise, it exfoliates the skin and removes calluses. Peeling starts from day 3 until day seven. Not a pretty sight. Next time I will use this product before summer and not while wearing cute little sandals. At one point it looked as if I’ve been hiking the Sahara desert on bare feet. But. After a week some pretty soft baby feet appear!
It is an effective all-in-one feet exfoliating and nourishing treatment. Dead skin and calluses will start to gradually peel away, unveiling the smooth, soft skin underneath.
Key – organic – ingredients: Lactic Acid for callus removing, Marine Algae to moisturize, Soybean for nourishing, Calendula for healing and Sage to purify. Free of parabens, mineral oil, sulfates and alcohol. Leave on for 60 or 90 minutes. Yes, I did 90. Then thoroughly rinse and dry feet and don’t use foot cream for 7-10 days. Allow the skin to peel and the new skin to resurface.
Tip: remove nail polish before this treatment.
A sheet mask is convenient product to bring along anywhere around the globe since no extra suitcase space needed. Taking a mask is also a perfect time to disconnect and listen to a guided meditation while you’re at it. That way home spa-ing becomes a benefit for skin and mind.
